Specifications

Format: A soft folded cover that opens like a small book
Paper: G.F Smith: matte or gloss at 300 gsm, or a textured premium paper at 400 gsm. Your choice: Matte, 300 gsm.
Artwork: Drawn for you by the studio (+£100, once for the design, whatever it shows), or your own print-ready design at the price of the boxes
Finishes: Premium Paper 28p a matchbook (at least £20). Gold or silver foil £75 set-up and 32p a matchbook for each face. Other foils, embossing, letterpress and coloured match heads are quoted
Quantities: From 25 to 1,000 matchbooks here; 2,500 and 5,000 are quoted. Most celebrations choose about one for each guest

How it works

You add this to your basket and pay securely by card on Stripe’s page, where your delivery address is asked. Card details are never stored by us.
The studio draws your artwork and sends a digital proof by email.
You ask for changes until it is right. Nothing is printed before your approval.
Standard delivery takes about three weeks from your order and is included. Express (about two weeks, £75) and Priority (about one week, £175) can be chosen at payment; delivery dates are estimates.
Your parcel is sent with tracking by DHL, UPS or FedEx.

If your date is closer than that, choose it under Delivery above, or tell us your date. Same-day delivery within London can sometimes be arranged.

Delivery and returns

The price includes the artwork service you choose, a digital proof, production and standard delivery. A drawing by the studio has revisions until it is right; your own design has one proof, and the file itself stays as you send it. We send worldwide from London with tracking by DHL, UPS or FedEx. In the UK the parcel is delivered to your door, with no separate postage and no VAT charged. Outside the UK and the United States, any customs duties or import taxes are paid by the recipient; for the United States they are included.

Because each piece is made for you alone, personalised orders cannot usually be returned. That does not affect your legal rights if a piece arrives faulty, damaged or different from the artwork you approved: write to info@laldie.com with a photograph and we will put it right. A cancellation may be possible before artwork or production has begun. Artwork drawn by the studio remains the studio’s unless a transfer is agreed in writing.

How is a matchbook different from a matchbox?

A matchbook has a soft folded cover that opens like a small book; a matchbox has a sliding drawer. Both are drawn in London and priced the same way.

What is the difference between the two ways to order?

Your own design: you send a print-ready file and pay for the matchbooks alone; we check the file and send one digital proof. A drawing by the studio: we draw it for you by hand, for one fixed fee of £100 whatever it shows, with revisions until it is right. The photographs on this page are earlier commissions.

How many should we order?

Twenty-five is the smallest order and up to 1,000 can be ordered here; 2,500 and 5,000 are quoted by the studio. Most celebrations choose about one for each guest.

Can I send my own design?

Yes. Choose Use your own artwork and attach a PDF, PNG or JPG up to 15 MB. If it needs redrawing or vectorising, choose file preparation (£45), or we tell you before anything is printed.

Can the matchbooks match our stationery?

Yes. Add an invitation, a venue photograph, a monogram or a palette as a reference, and the studio draws it to the scale and paper of the matchbook.

Do you send outside the United Kingdom?

Yes, we deliver worldwide. Delivery is included, with tracking from DHL, UPS or FedEx. In the UK the price is delivered to your door, and for the United States US import duties are included as well; elsewhere any customs duties or import taxes are paid by the recipient.
